• ArtsWalk 12pm @ the Artist Within 313 S. Walnut St Downtown Muncie

  2011 ArtsWalk at the Artist Within, 313 S. Walnut St . October's featured artist: Meghan Zick Meghan is a graduate of Ball State University and is currently teaching Art at Yorktown Middle School .  Immediately following her graduation, she taught Art at Wilson Middle School .  She enjoys sharing her passion for art with her students and also encourages young artists through the school's Art Club. "Painted Quilts: stitching together two passions" combines her passion for watercolors with her love and memories of quilting with her grandmother. Thursday October 6th ArtsWalk an artists opening reception will be held from 5-9pm for Meghan Zick and Ball State Architecture ARCH 301 Design students who have an exhibit in the upstairs gallery, "House in My Head".  Live music will be provided by Bryce Taylor and light refreshments will be served.  BSU ceramics students will be conducting potter's wheel throwing demonstrations in front of the Artist Within. Several local artists will have work on display and for sale: Artist Within Member Artists, Beyond I Can, Green Glam and Stuff from the Bunker will have work at the Artist Within. YART and other local artists will be selling their artwork in the parking lot adjacent to the studio.

• Susie Morgan Exhibition Reception 5pm to 8pm @ Muncie Civic Theatre

  For ArtsWalk, Muncie Civic will feature local artist and art instructor Susie Morgan. This exhibit will showcase her new pieces that extend her "Postcards from Home....Paintings of Old Muncie." collection, which she presented at Art & Soul by Phoebe last October.  These were so well received last year, and art patrons and Muncie citiezens were thrilled to see Susie's paintings of old Muncie.

• Yart 5pm to 9pm @ Downtown Muncie

  Yart will be held in conjunction with ArtsWalk, on Thursday, October 6, from 5-9pm. This guerrilla art sale with a goal of making art affordable and accessible to the community brings together dozens of artists and art patrons each year. 

   

  Yart is still looking for artists! There is no cost to vend, and Yart does not take a cut from sales. We do want a "yard sale for art" vibe, with all prices under $40. You'll manage your own sales and need your own display. If interested, email MissMoth@gmail.com.

• Grand Re-opening of GoldSpace Theater 5pm to 8pm @ GoldSpace Theater 107 S. Mulberry S.

  The reopening will feature the release and book signing of White Magic/Black Truth: It takes a city by Flo M. Lapin.  Entertainment will be provided by Phil Dunn and Doc Peterson. Look for the clown from The Magic Theatre Box.  Catering the event will be Tanglevine Crossing with Downtown Farm Stand.

• To Kill a Mockingbird: From Novel to Film 10am @ The E.B.& Bertha C. Ball Center 400 N Minnetrista Parkway

  The E.B.& Bertha C. Ball Center (400 N Minnetrista Parkway, Muncie) presents "To Kill a Mockingbird: From Novel to Film" hosted by Conrad Lane, Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Conrad Lane will discuss the major differences between the novel and the film, examine the making of the movie, and highlight the various cast members.   In the Next Room or the vibrator play is a comedy about marriage, intimacy, and electricity. In a seemingly perfect, well-to-do Victorian home, proper gentleman and scientist Dr. Givings has innocently invented an extraordinary new device for treating “hysteria” in women (and occasionally men): the vibrator. Adjacent to the doctor’s laboratory, his young and energetic wife tries to tend to their newborn daughter—and wonders exactly what is going on in the next room. When a new “hysterical” patient and her husband bring a wet nurse and their own complicated relationship into the doctor’s home, Dr. and Mrs. Givings must examine the nature of their own marriage, and what it truly means
  to love someone.

• Trivia Brawl 9pm @ Doc's Music Hall 215 S. Walnut St.

  Every Sunday, egos are crushed and legends are born at Doc's Sunday Trivia Brawl. Come and play for free, solo or with a team, and show off your command of all knowledge trivial. Win, and split up a a $50 Doc's gift certificate on booze, food, or merchandise.

  Every game is six rounds of trivia questions on a wide variety of topics in pop culture, science, history, and current events. Every tenth question is part of our inadvertent quest to discriminate against the deaf, and has players listening to a song and attempting to identify its title, band, and album. The sixth round is a special visual aid round in which the blind are instead at an unfair disadvantage. Team signup starts at 9pm, and unless we go into a Sudden Death Lightning Bloodfeud Overtime Round (of Death), the game tends to wrap up at about 11pm.
